Maikel Franco hit his 14th and 15th home runs of the season Monday night, but that is not what this story is about, oh no. Instead, it’s an ode to the father in the Citizens Bank Park bleachers who dared to scream at the world “yes, I CAN have it all.”
This Phillies fan proved you can catch a home run without dropping your infant child
The rare band-hander-bare-hander with a baby in tow.

This enterprising young dad not only made one of the better snags of a home run ball when he made a barehanded, backhanded grab of Franco’s second dinger. He also did it while balancing what appears to be a six-month-old baby in his opposite hand.
The fan, stylishly adorned in a early-10s Roy Halladay jersey, reached across his body to pluck the ball out of the sky in front of the outstretched hands of an adjacent group of Phillies fans. And while the cheers for Franco’s dinger lost a 0.5% share to cheers for the man in the stands who made a web gem in the bleachers, the sure-handed Philly fan’s own child couldn’t be bothered to even feign interest. Sad.
Monday’s catch — a bright spot in the bottom of the ninth of a Phillies loss — should serve as a valuable lesson to the rest of the baseball world. When it comes to attending a Major League Baseball game, you can either bring your infant child or a baseball glove. One has to stay in the car with the windows up when the temps go up to the mid-80s. On Monday night, one Phillies fan chose wisely and proved holding an infant is no impediment to catching a home run.
Please don’t try it on your own, however.
