France goalie Hugo Lloris ate a big ol’ bug at the World Cup

Not on purpose though. That would be weird.

Halftime has descended on the 2018 World Cup quarterfinal between Uruguay and France, and Les Bleus have taken a 1-0 lead with a berth in the game’s final four on the horizon. I could go on about France’s risky defense exposing their weaknesses against Luis Suarez’s streaky squad, or about how their set-piece mastery has given them an early advantage in a game that’s liable to get chippy in the second half.

But alas, I am a simple man. Instead, here’s French goalie Hugo Lloris eating a bug. A big one, too!

The extra protein appears to have paid off. He’s made four saves through the first half, including one beauty on a header from Martín Cáceres in the bottom left corner of the goal. He’ll need even more bug power to derail a Uruguay attack that has put four times as many shots on goal as his French teammates.
