On Sunday, Kevin Durant posted a message on his Instagram story, saying Aaron Donald is one of the most impressive athletes in all of sports. More importantly, he joked about how he would join the Rams right now.

With how dynamic the modern athlete is, we need more getting after it in two sports.

Everybody was able to get off the easy meme of slapping the Rams logo on his infamous “My Next Chapter” photo from the summer of 2016 in which he announced that he was joining the Golden State Warriors.
But let’s actually imagine Durant joining the Rams for a second.
The best fit for Durant on the field is to put him at wide receiver. We’ve seen what he could do in a flag football setting, when he played a game with LeBron James on Ustream back in 2011 during the NBA lockout.

Durant is listed at 6’9, which I have previously documented as one of the biggest lies in professional sports history. That would be one hell of a height advantage for a wide receiver, and likely the new go-to NFL Factoid, replacing “did you know Brock Osweiler is 6’8?”
Rams coach Sean McVay unsurprisingly likes the idea. “I bet he’d be pretty dangerous in the red zone on some of those jump balls,” McVay said via ESPN. “If he thinks about wanting to do that, we’ll welcome him.
“He can come kick it with us anytime he wants.”
The immediate concern with Durant is going to be his lack of strength, which is understandable. However, if the Rams used him strictly as a red zone threat, it’s not the dumbest idea in the world. There’s less room for corners to bully him out of position, and since corners are hardly ever over six feet tall, Jared Goff could get the football in a spot where only Durant could reach it rather easily. But they gotta get him to the goal line to avoid a perpetual jam.
Of course, then we’d get into teams countering that with what’s usually left for prevent defenses in Hail Mary situations — their tallest wide receivers lining up on defense.
Plus, signing Durant would be a very Rams move. They already added a ton of big names this offseason like Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Ndamukong Suh, and Brandin Cooks. One more splash of a signing wouldn’t hurt.
