The South Carolina Gamecocks have secured a commitment from 2025 four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph, he announced at the Under Armour All-American Game on Thursday.

Murph, ranked the No. 4 player in the state of South Carolina, is a 6’2”, 190-pound wide receiver who was seen as a top-250 recruit in the 2025 class across the board.

While the Gamecocks had been trending for the South Carolina native, this recruitment dragged out till the new year, with South Carolina, Clemson, Ole Miss, Colorado and Tennessee rounding out the top five for the four-star receiver.

Ultimately, this commitment seemingly came down to the two in-state schools, with the Tigers also pushing to land the wideout after bringing him to campus for an official visit this fall.

Murph was initially a part of the 2026 recruiting class, but re-classified, prompting him to take official visits to both Clemson and South Carolina this November before landing on the Gamecocks.

Holding 31 scholarship offers, including ones from a bevy of SEC and Power 4 schools, Murph joins a strong recruiting class for head coach Shane Beamer that is currently ranked as a Top-25 class in the cycle.

South Carolina sought to add a number of wide receivers in their 2025 recruiting class, landing four-star Malik Clark, four-star Lex Cyrus, four-star Brian Rowe, three-star Jordon Gidron and three-star Jayden Sellers.

They’ll join a room of returners led by sophomore Mazeo Bennett, who led the Gamecocks with 28 catches for 324 receiving yards in 2024. But, this room is still looking to replace the production that 2024 first-round pick Xavier Leggette left behind, and could very well look to their deep freshmen class for help in 2025.

South Carolina added a mix of bigger and smaller receivers, as Clark and Gidron project to the outside, while Cyrus, Rowe, and Sellers are likely slot receivers at the next level.

Murph will join the room as another outside receiver, capping off a whopping six-receiver freshman class for the Gamecocks.

As he will graduate high school only in the spring, Murph is not expected to enroll early at South Carolina, but make no mistake: there is very much an opportunity for the four-star to come in and play early alongside fellow freshmen Cyrus and Rowe.

Murph is one of the more physically gifted receivers in South Carolina’s class with his 6’2”, 190-pound frame, and he adds a different element to the room with good twitch and explosiveness to go with his hands at a bigger frame.

He can complement the all-around talent of Clark, as well as the elite speed of Rowe to be a quick contributor in 2025, which the Gamecocks are looking for to help out star quarterback LaNorris Sellers.

Murph comes from Irmo High School in South Carolina, where he amassed 153 catches for 2,412 yards and 29 touchdowns over two seasons.

Fresh off a solid performance during the Under Armour All-American Game practices this week, he now is heading to South Carolina, being the latest receiver to join the Gamecocks 2025 recruiting class.
