Mike D’Antoni, we’ve learned, can’t always be counted on to milk maximum potential out of a talented roster. He can always be counted on to deliver the pithy quips, though:

Indeed, many of us spent the summer comparing these Lakers to an All-Star team because, ya know, the roster was and is well-populated with All-Star types like Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, and Pau Gasol. Those were flattering comparisons, perhaps because we haven't been paying close enough attention the actual All-Star Games.
