James Dolan orders Knicks dancers to stop dancing

James Dolan is tyrant baby, Exhibit #90002981.

Chris Trotman

The Knicks have had a rough 1-2 start, losing their most recent home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves after falling behind by more than 20 points in the first quarter. James Dolan, ever the lurker, was at that game Sunday, and according to Frank Isola (who, naturally, jumped on this particular story) got a little riled up:

According to several sources, Dolan was ready to erupt after the Knicks surrendered 40 first-quarter points and as the deficit ballooned to 23 Dolan went hunting for Steve Mills, the team’s new president and general manager.

One hopes Mills wasn’t getting yelled AT, since he’s the guy Dolan picked to run the Knicks just weeks ago after the sudden firing of executive vice president Glen Grunwald. Then again, one never knows with Dolan. His infantile rage knows no bounds:

Dolan has become such a hands-on owner — figuratively speaking — that, according to a source, he doesn’t want the dancers dancing. Crazy, right? The same guy who wanted creative input on the dancers’ outfits (and he’s good at it) apparently ordered that the girls’ roles be reduced to mostly throwing T-shirts into the crowd. They performed maybe one routine on Sunday.

“WHY ARE PEOPLE DANCING!? I’M SAD. PEOPLE CAN’T DANCE WHEN I AM SAD.” Yes, the Knicks lose a couple games and Madison Square Garden turns into Footloose. Expect hot dog vendors to be demoted to napkin-folding in the near future.
