For some reason, ESPN is comparing this year’s Lakers to the best team ever

No pressure, though.

ESPN

The 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls surrounded a prime Michael Jordan with a brilliant supporting cast, set an NBA regular season record with 72 wins, and won the championship. The 2013-2014 Lakers have an old and injured Kobe Bryant, give regular minutes to Steve Blake and Nick Young, and started their season 2-3. Yet, for some reason, ESPN is tracking these Lakers’ record (and that of the Spurs, which is much less weird, but still weird) against that of those legendary Bulls. This had been bouncing around right as the season started, so we assumed it was a relic from last season, but nope, it’s live and updating.

Anyway, no. No they can’t.
