If you, like me, have been watching a lot of the U.S. Open, then perhaps you, like me, have been trying to read up on some tennis players you don’t know much about. If that’s the case, then perhaps you’ve encountered a phenomenon fairly universal for female athletes and celebrities (as pointed out by Chelsea Peretti, one such celebrity), and especially evident in tennis. Observe, with a few players from this year’s Open:
Very many people search for the feet of female tennis players
“Feet”, “hot”, and “boyfriend”, but especially “feet”.
What we’ve learned:
1. People search “[female tennis player] hot” a lot. Because they wish to confirm that those tennis players are, indeed, hot? I don’t really get it.
2. I assume people searching “[female tennis player] boyfriend” click the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button in hopes of a “NOPE! ALL YOURS! DATE AWAY!” result.
3. Feet. So, so many of people are searching for female tennis players’ feet. As I mentioned, this is true for lots of celebrities, but rarely do you find those searches within the top four Google auto-completes. There is something special about tennis feet, and especially European tennis feet. If you’ve been trying to read about female U.S. Open participants this week, you have undoubtedly discovered this.
