Toronto welcomed Carter-- now a member of the visiting Grizzlies several teams later-- with a video tribute that moved him to tears. Before the game, some were nervous fans might taint the occasion with more booing.
But after years of animus, the crowd gave one of the team’s first real stars a warm ovation during the intro:
