If you watch college football with any regularity, you have seen the commercial I like to call WHALE JAMZ:
A tribute to WHALE JAMZ, the best sports TV commercial

It’s a commercial for Pacific Life, a company that does stuff like “mutual funds” and “annuities,” which I think are kinds of sexually transmitted infections? I don’t know and refuse to find out.
Anyway, Pacific Life has aired this ad -- which they call “Tail Slaps” -- since 2008, with spots geared toward sports fans (during college football games on ABC and ESPN2) and bathrobe dads (during NCIS and the news). College Football Twitter loves it, as they should.
I don’t know the ad agency that produced this commercial, but I assume it is a firm run by whales, because this is clearly meant to promote whales. In the years since this commercial debuted, I have purchased 14 blue whales. I am in deep financial ruin.
In case you can’t watch the video, here is a description.
VISUALS: Pacific Life pretty much nails it:
Humpback whales powerfully break through the water’s surface by slapping their tails, slapping their pectoral fins, and by breaching.
That’s it. It’s just whales doing magnificent whale stuff for 30 seconds.
MUSIC:The song is called “Pacific Life Fight Song.” It is “sports-themed.” I have transcribed the lyrics for you:
[high-pitched wailing]
DUH DUH DUHHHHHHH
DUH NUH NUH NUHNUHNUH NUHNUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUHHHHH [HEY!]
DUH NUH NUH NUHNUHNUH NUHNUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NAYYYYY [HEY!]
DUH NUH NUH NUHNUHNUH NUHNUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUHHHHH [HEY!]
NUHNUHNUHNUHNUH NUHNUHNUHNUHNUH NUHNUHNUHNUHNUH [high-pitched wailing]
DUH NUH NUH NUHNUHNUH NUHNUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NAYYYYY [HEY!]
One day we’ll look back at this and reflect on a time when music actually stood for something. WHALE JAMZ FOREVER.
No, seriously. WHALE JAMZ forever. Here’s over an hour of WHALE JAMZ we made for you:
Careful, though. Too much could get you dangerously hyped. WHALE JAMZ safely.
