Carmelo Anthony likes to wear hats. That’s well established. This season, we’ve seen him wear some particularly zany hats after Knicks games. But do they correspond at all to wins vs. losses? As a matter of fact, they kinda do:

Crack WFUV reporter Kenny Ducey’s rigorous study found that -- after the Knicks’ few wins this year -- Melo either went with a simple (for him) black top hat or a simple blue one. When they lose, things get silly. So things have gotten silly 22 times and counting this year.
Meanwhile, Iman Shumpert has only worn his clock hat during preseason, so we’re still waiting for good data on that one.
