Lauren Hill's goal was to play in a college basketball game. Hill -- who has an inoperable form of brain cancer called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) -- achieved that dream and then some, playing in four games for Mount St. Joseph before she decided to retire and become an honorary coach for the Lions. Hill's next goal was to raise $1 million by the end of the year for The Cure Starts Now, a foundation that supports brain cancer research. She got that done, too:

— The Cure Starts Now (@CureStartsNow) December 30, 2014 Hill, who can be seen speaking here right after the goal was reached, got an anonymous $116,000 donation Tuesday evening to push her telethon over the goal. The number’s still rising.
The Cincinnati Bengals' Devon Still, who has developed a strong bond with Hill during his daughter's battle with cancer, tweeted his congratulations:

She played and scored in those four games, got her own Wheaties box and personalized NBA Live cover, and was just named runner-up to Mo’Ne Davis in the AP’s Female Athlete of the Year voting.
