It’s hard being a ballperson. You’ve sharpened your instincts to make quick snags, but sometimes unusual bounces carry something meant for the players into your reach, and then you are filled with regret:

What ball? I didn’t catch any ball. I didn’t even see a ball.
Ooooh that’s not good.
Yeah. That’s a ground rule double, by the way, and the Royals went on to score twice that inning. Red Sox won, though, so no real harm done.
