The Ottawa REDBLACKS, who you may know from the Tim Tebow Chronicles (and yes, I will follow their style guide because I like shouting REDBLACKS), have only existed for a moment, but they’re already getting into the zany alternate jersey business:
CFL team wants to wear plaid helmets
The Ottawa REDBLACKS introduced a REDBLACKREDBLACKREDBLACKREDBLACK helmet pattern.

— Ottawa REDBLACKS (@REDBLACKS) August 18, 2014 Yes, that’s a plaid helmet (there’s also a plaid strip on the sleeve);
No, the REDBLACKS won’t actually wear those, at least not yet:
Redblacks players will wear Signature uniforms for the first time in Sunday’s home game against the Calgary Stampeders, although their red and black plaid helmets won’t be available because of problems with the application of the colour design.
Maybe that’s the cool smoky stuff floating around the helmet in those images is actually shoddy paint failing to adhere? The RED and the BLACK just won’t stay put?
Anyway, please figure this out, REDBLACKS. And while we’re doing Canadian stereotype uniforms, how about a denim vest for the jersey?
