Mink surprises fisherman with daring fish heist

Best pound-for-pound fish thief in the league right here.

If at first you don’t succeed, dry yourself off and try again:

This mink is to be commended for its determination, hopping right back in the bucket after a failed first attempt. It is to be commended for its innovative decision to work from the edge of the bucket instead of inside it. It is to be commended for its strength and speed in getting a self-sized creature back into its rocky breakfast nook. It is also very cute.

I hope, however, that this mink understands how it benefited from the benevolence of the fisherpeople here. Stealing a meal isn’t supposed to be that devoid of conflict. This is like scoring from long distance when the goalie’s been pulled. Like, yeah, cool shot, but nobody was trying to stop you.

I’m just saying: Don’t get too big a head over this one, mink. Get that belly big, though. And tell Daniel I say hi:

minkfriend

(Side note: That poor fish! It went from “hey cool a free worm I don’t usually see worms here” to “oh damn hook in my mouth” to “well I guess I live in a bucket now but at least the hook’s out” to “wait what is biting me” to food so rapidly.)
