After CBS opened its broadcast with discussion of the NFL’s response to the Ray Rice fiasco, host James Brown closed with a strong monologue on the NFL community and violence against women.

While much of the broadcast touched on or danced around the responsibility the NFL community -- and men in particular -- bear for dismantling the poisonous culture of machisimo, Brown’s address was particularly direct, and worth special consideration.
