Grouchy Twitter users routinely pick the wrong handles when they want to talk to (or attack, usually) sports figures. Typically it’s someone with the same name. Sometimes it’s a guy whose name is significantly different from the sports person who has his clearly non-sports-person headshot in his avatar. Observe New York Times writer Ben Rothenberg, who is not Ben Roethlisberger and therefore not playing in Thursday night’s game against the Ravens:
New York Times writer Ben Rothenberg is not Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger
Not even close.

It's only Week 2 and I'm so ready for NFL season to be over. Seriously, that's not me, people. pic.twitter.com/UBfP5MavJS
— Ben Rothenberg (@BenRothenberg) September 12, 2014 I'm so bad under pressure. :( RT @MrsSoLowKey: @BenRothenberg I'm gone need you to throw the DAMN BALL when you feel the pressure DAMN
— Ben Rothenberg (@BenRothenberg) September 12, 2014 (Even if that WERE Ben Roethlisberger, what the hell is tweeting him advice in the middle of the game going to do?)
At this point I’d like to make clear that I am not Sage Rosenfels but I WILL accept Twitter blame if ever he upsets you.
