Andrew Cuomo is the governor of New York. He is 58 years old. I estimate from photos that he’s a little over 6’, since his dad was about 5’10 and his brother, Chris, is 6’2. Cuomo loves to play basketball, and according to reports, was doing so with Chris recently when he tore a ligament in his hand that now requires surgery. There is a specific aspect of this story that catches my attention. From the New York Post:
New York’s 58-year-old governor claims he injured his hand hitting a basketball rim

Chris said --€” and an administration official later confirmed to the Post --€” that Governor Andrew had a torn ligament in his right hand.
For his part, the governor told the guests he hurt his right hand after it hit the rim during the game.
Emphasis is mine! His hand hit the rim!? Like, he was trying to dunk, and it went awry!?
If the 58-year-old, slightly-above-average-height governor of New York can get rim, that is spectacular and I don’t know why he hasn’t shown us all video of AIR CUOMO.
If he is a normal 58-year-old, slightly-above-average-height person who cannot get rim, and who injured his hand doing something more pedestrian on the basketball court (or something else entirely!), then “Oh, this? Yeah, I was just posterizing my little brother and I hit the rim and messed up my hand” is either a solid dad joke that the Post missed, or a wonderfully brazen excuse story.
