Serena Williams re-enters Indian Wells to a standing ovation

Friday night, Serena Williams took the court at Indian Wells in an emotional moment for fans and for the whole Williams family:

Both Serena and Venus Williams have boycotted Indian Wells since 2001, when they were reportedly subject to racial abuse from a vicious home crowd. After 14 years, Serena decided to make her return to the BNP Paribas Open, and the crowd gave her a heartfelt and prolonged welcome back, cheering right through her warm-ups:
