Orioles’ John Angelos explains his defense of Baltimore protesters

Orioles executive John Angelos followed up a strong series of tweets about the Freddie Gray protests in Baltimore and the communities involved with an appearance on PBS. Angelos defended the decision to have his team play in a stadium empty of fans this week and fleshed out his description of the socioeconomic factors and police history behind the protests:

It’s a compelling case made by a Baltimore native who occupies a position not typically associated with such progressive statements. Angelos rightfully dismissed a question about his “politicizing” the issue -- he’s just speaking for himself, not a party or even his organization, and he’s made a strong point in doing so.
