This Pacers draft pick just realized Paul George is his relative

You can’t explore your family tree without finding a surprise, as new Pacer Joe Young discovered this weekend:

Young is the Pacers’ second-round pick out of Oregon, and the Alex Lee tweeting here is his aunt, who specializes in genealogy, and here’s how the connection works out, via Dana Hunsinger Benbow of the Indy Star:

George and Young are descendants of two twin slaves born in Opelousas, La.

George’s paternal fourth great-grandmother, Merice Donato, is the twin sister of Young’s maternal fourth great-grandmother Olympe Donato.

Pretty crazy. That’s some expert digging.
