Good horse:
Everyone got to pet American Pharoah the morning after he won the Triple Crown
...and American Pharoah got to get pet by everyone.
Remarkable moment as Bob Baffert invites ALL of the media to pet American Pharoah. Bob said, 'He just loves people.' pic.twitter.com/JPFrc1iJkJ

— Penelope P. Miller (@PenelopePMiller) June 7, 2015 Baffert literally let the media surround American Pharoah to pet him and take close-ups. Unreal. pic.twitter.com/3CXZ4x5n2c
— Claire Novak (@BH_CNovak) June 7, 2015 A horse winning the Triple Crown stirs up lots of existential horse questions: Does American Pharoah know he won a lot? Does he feel proud, or at least happy? Did he have fun?
I can’t answer any of this, but I feel pretty confident that AP enjoyed getting a full-body scratch ‘n’ pet the morning after he won the Belmont Stakes. Horse racing can be brutal for the beasts who make it possible, so it’s at least a little heartening to see an all-time great receive the kind of tangible reward a horse can definitely appreciate. I’m sure Pharoah’s eating the finest carrots, too, and that he’ll have some extraordinary horse sex in the future.
Meanwhile, I think it should become industry requirement for sportswriters to scratch the backs of champions in every sport.
