Miami Heat rookie Josh Richardson is one of the most exciting late-round gems of his class, and he can jump really high. For example:

But that latest example, from Thursday’s win over the Phoenix Suns, shows the downside of being able to jump really high. Richardson soared so high to block John Jenkins’ shot that he smashed his finger on the backboard:

Better a hand than a head, but that’s still not fun. And though a lot of athletes make every effort to remain stoic while getting their dislocated parts relocated, you can see on Richardson’s face that that shit REALLY hurts, both on its way out and on its way back in:

So yeah, there’s one very nice upside for those of us who are totally nonathletic and will never touch a backboard.
