Bayern Munich put a thorough beat down on Borussia Dortmund in the first half of their DFB Pokal quarterfinal, but it took until the waning moments of the opening stanza before they finally had something to show for it. After a series of near missed, Arjen Robben gave Bayern the lead they deserved with a wonderful shot from 20 yards and sent the home side into the break ahead 1-0.

Bayern were dominant from the very start, overrunning the Dortmund midfield and playing nearly the entire half in the BvB half. They should have gone in front early on, but Toni Kross was off balance and failed to knock a rebound into a wide open net. Bayern had another chance through Javi Martinez, who's sweet first touch shot looked goal bound, but Roman Weidenfeller made a sensational save to keep it out and the match level.
All the while, Dortmund couldn't string anything together. They didn't force Manuel Neuer into a single save and Robert Lewandowski spent much of the first half hanging out alone up top.
But despite all of the possession and all of the chances, Bayern couldn’t score and looked set to go to halftime level. That is until Robben came to their rescue.
Dortmund gifted Robben the chance with a bad giveaway in their own box and once he got the opening, Robben made it count. The Dutchman collected the ball at 20 yards and quickly shot, curling the ball perfectly into the top corner so gorgeously that Jurgen Klopp could only smile and nod his head as Bayern grabbed a 1-0 lead.
