NC State has been selected as the ACC preseason favorite for the upcoming college basketball season. The Wolfpack were ranked ahead of the Duke Blue Devils and the North Carolina Tar Heels, who placed No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack has been selected as the preseason favorite in the ACC. Wolfpack players have also been named preseason player and rookie of the year.


The Wolfpack went 24-13 during the 2011-12 season, 9-7 in the ACC. After reaching the ACC Tournament semifinals, they received a No. 11-seed in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Tournament. In the tournament, the Wolfpack upset both the San Diego St. Aztecs and the Georgetown Hoyas to reach the sweet 16, where they lost to the Kansas Jayhawks by three points.
Wolfpack junior forward C.J. Leslie was named Preseason Player of the Year. Last season, he averaged 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Wolfpack freshman forward Rodney Purvis was named the conference's Preseason Rookie of the Year.
The Wolfpack play their first game of the 2012-13 season on Nov. 9 when they host the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C.
