Duke Blue Devils forward Marshall Plumlee will miss six to eight weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot, a source confirmed with CBSSports.com's Jeff Goodman. The news was first reported by ESNU during a Blue Devils practice at Fort Bragg on Monday. There was no information on how Plumlee suffered the injury.

Plumlee, a redshirt freshman who's listed a 6'11, 235 pounds, isn't expected to play major minutes for Duke but was going to see some playing time this season. Marshall, who's the younger brother to Duke's starting center Mason Plumlee, sat out last season due to the lack of a roster spot -- his brothers, Mason and Miles, a first-round draft pick by the Indiana Pacers, were the stars of the Blue Devils' front court that also featured senior Ryan Kelly and junior Josh Hairston.

Despite the loss of the former McDonald's All-American, Duke still has depth in the front court. However, it has no true option at center, a position Marshall was expected to help out with. If Plumlee is out for the full eight weeks, his return may not come until a Dec. 19 showdown with the Cornell Big Red.
