Syracuse gets commitment from three-star recruit B.J. Johnson

Forward B.J. Johnson the latest to sign with Orange from the high school Class of 2013.

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Syracuse Orange men's basketball program received its third verbal commitment from the Class of 2013 on Tuesday. According to Scout.com's Mike McAllister, three-star small forward B.J. Johnson has announced his decision to attend SU over the Temple Owls, Villanova Wildcats and Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

According to McAllister, Johnson (6’7, 165 pounds) received an official offer from Syracuse two weeks ago and was one of a dozen recruits that attended Syracuse’s Midnight Madness on Friday. The Ardmore, Pa. native said the relationship with the SU coaching staff was what made his decision easy:

"Me and the coaching staff have a great relationship. They're (sic) style of play fits the way I play. On my visit, everyone made me feel at home. From the players to the students and the people on campus."

Already, the Orange have received commitments from five-star point guard Tyler Ennis and three-star center Chinonso Obokoh, who announced his commitment on Monday night.

All three players will be asked to replace seniors Brandon Triche and James Southerland. The Orange also could lose point guard Michael Carter-Williams to the NBA Draft if he over performs, much like Dion Watiers did, this upcoming season.
