Louisville was selected as the No. 1-ranked team in the Big East Conference’s preseason coaches poll.
Big East coaches name Louisville preseason favorite
Louisville received 14 out of 15 first place votes in the Big East’s preseason coaches’ poll.

The team was virtually chosen as the unanimous favorite, as coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team (Louisville received 14 out of 15 first-place votes). Fresh off a Big East championship last season and a Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament, Louisville will have three starters returning from the 2011-12 team.
The other first-place vote, which obviously came from Louisville head coach Rick Pitino, went to Notre Dame, who ended up being ranked No. 3 overall in the preseason poll. All five starters from last year's team will be returning, in addition to transfer Garrick Sherman and two top 100 freshmen in Cameron Biedscheid and Zach Auguste.
Syracuse received the No. 2 overall spot fresh off a school record 34-3 finish last season.
