Kansas Jayhawks forward Kevin Young will likely miss two weeks of action after breaking a bone in his hand during practice on Thursday, according to a report from The Kansas City Star.

The senior underwent surgery on Friday morning, and as he rehabs from the injury he will likely miss the Jayhawks’ two exhibition games as well as the team’s season opener against Southeast Missouri State on Nov. 10.
Kansas head coach Bill Self told The Kansas City Star that Young, “should be back shooting and non-contact within 10 days and hopefully back on the court within two weeks.” Self also noted that the forward sustained the injury while working through a screen during a defensive drill.
Young only averaged 3.4 points and three rebounds in 11.4 minutes per game for the Jayhawks last season, but showed signs of improvement during Kansas’ NCAA Tournament play and figured to have an increased role this season.
