Wisconsin point guard Josh Gasser tears ACL

Josh Gasser will miss the entire 2012-13 season with a torn ACL.

The Wisconsin Badgers were dealt a tough blow on Monday morning, when the news came out that starting point guard Josh Gasser tore the ACL in his left knee on Saturday as many feared, according to SI.com.

Gasser will miss the entire year and redshirt, leaving him with two years of eligibility remaining at Wisconsin.

The junior had previously been the backup for Jordan Taylor on the point, but was finally getting his chance to run the offense. In those two campaigns, Gasser averaged 6.8 points and four rebounds per game. Last year, Gasser got solid playing time, averaging 34 minutes and 7.8 points per game.

The injury further cripples the projecting starting lineup of Bo Ryan's talented team, which is already without forward Mike Bruesewitz.

Bruesewitz suffered a horrendous gash on his shin when he was cut by an exposed nail securing the basket, forcing him to need 50 stitches.
