The Carrier Classic will continue in 2013 despite complications that led to the cancellation of the 2012 event, which slated Ohio State against Marquette, according to the Associated Press.
Despite problems, Carrier Classic will continue in 2013
The Carrier Classic will continue in 2013 despite the cancelations and problems the outdoor games faced this year.

The 2012 Carrier Classic, which was scheduled to take place outdoors on the U.S.S. Yorktown in South Carolina this last weekend, was canceled due to the condensation on the court creating an unsafe playing surface. The Carrier Classic was not the only outdoor contest that ran into trouble this last weekend. No. 8 Syracuse and No. 25 San Diego State played on the U.S.S. Midway on Sunday after the game was delayed two days due to the threat of wind and rain, and the 2012 Navy-Marine Corps Classic on the U.S.S. Bataan in Jacksonville, Fla., between No. 10 Florida and Georgetown was canceled at halftime, also due to a wet playing surface.
Morale Entertainment President and event coordinator Mike Whalen has stated that the event will continue as planned in 2013. He and other organizers believe they will have a solution to the condensation problem by next year, however, the statement the Carrier Classic makes about the American people’s support of the troops is the main reason to continue on with the event in the future:
“We’re trying to do some good and we think we can continue to do that,” Whalen said. “It’s important that we do this.”
The Carrier Classic benefits the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
