The Kansas Jayhawks recovered from an early scare and avoided a monumental upset, dominating the second half en route to a 69-55 victory over the Chattanooga Mocs Thursday. Chattanooga took it to the nation's seventh-ranked team early, jumping out to a 36-28 halftime lead on 18 first half points from guard Farad Cobb.

The No. 7 Jayhawks overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to beat the Mocs at Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas shut Cobb down in the second half, holding the guard to three points in the final stanza, and the Mocs were unable to find scoring elsewhere, allowing Kansas to roll to the victory.
The Jayhawks were led by 25 points and eight rebounds from guard Ben McLemore. Elijah Johnson added 18 points, and center Jeff Withey recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Backup guard Naadir Tharpe led Kansas with five assists. The Jayhawks were a troubling 10-19 at the free throw line and a tepid 44 percent from the field.
Besides Cobb's 21 points, Chattanooga got 13 points and five boards from forward Z. Mason and 10 points from forward Drazen Zlovaric. Guard Ronrico White had three assists for the Mocs.
Kansas, now 2-1 on the season, returns to action next Monday against Washington State at the CBE Classic in Kansas City.
