The No. 13 UCLA Bruins cruised past the James Madison Dukes Thursday night, winning by a score of 100-70. The Bruins were led by sophomore Norman Powell, who finished with 27 points, and freshman Jordan Adams, who had 25 points.

The Bruins, coming off a narrow victory over the UC Irvine Anteaters, jumped out on the Dukes early. The Bruins took a 10-2 lead within the first five minutes of the game, then a 26-8 lead halfway through the first half. By halftime, the Bruins were up, 63-29.

The Bruins kept their foot on the gas to start the second half as Powell and Adams scored 12 of the Bruins’ first 14 points. A Joshua Smith layup midway through the second half put the Bruins up, 81-50. The Dukes never got closer than 29 points after that.

Adams, who was overlooked this offseason when head coach Ben Howland brought in fellow freshmen Kyle Anderson, Tony Parker and Shabazz Muhammed, has been on fire to start the season, averaging just over 24 points a game through the Bruins' first three games.

Larry Drew II led the Bruins with 12 assists. Anderson had a season-high 12 rebounds. The Bruins played their third straight game without Muhammed, who has been declared ineligible. UCLA has appealed the NCAA's decision.
