The Wildcats win their second game of the season and hand the Miners their first loss.

Chris Morrison-US PRESSWIRE

The No. 12 Arizona Wildcats defeated the UTEP Miners, 72-51, on Thursday night in the McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz.

The Wildcats were led by Mark Lyons' 17 points and Solomon Hill's 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The win moves the Wildcats to 2-0 on the season and drops the Miners to 1-1.

The Wildcats could not have shot the ball much better and their percentages across the board were impressive. The Wildcats shot 48% from the field, 82% from the free-throw line and 50% from three-point range, all while holding the Miners to just 36% from the field.

The Wildcats forced 15 turnovers and dominated the boards, 35-14, including 13 on the offensive end. The advantage on the boards made up for their own 19 turnovers.

The Wildcats led, 35-22, at the half and outscored the Miners, 37-29, in the second. Julian Washburn, Jacques Streeter and Chris Washburn all scored in double-figures for the Miners in the loss.
