The Murray State Racers came back from a double-digit deficit against St. John’s to edge out the Red Storm at the Charleston Classic, 72-67. The Racers were down 13 points in the first half and it appeared Steve Lavin’s club had them on the ropes, but the up-and-down pace allowed Murray State to get back in it quickly. The Red Storm led for almost the entire game, but Murray State pulled even at the six-minute mark, and they’d never trail again.

The Racers trailed the Johnnies by double digits, but took advantage of a fast pace and came back to win it in the final six minutes.

Guards Isaiah Canaan and Stacy Wilson led Murray State on the offensive end. Canaan was ice cold from outside, but still managed to chip in 17 points. Wilson led all Racers with 21 points, as both guards got plenty of shots up in the fast-paced game. As the country witnessed in 2011, Steve Prohm's club can hang with anyone and has the talent to play with all the major conference schools. It was slow but impressive crawl back against a talented St. John's club.
D’Angelo Harrison continued his scoring assault, pouring in 27 points for the Johnnies. The sophomore from Texas has scored more than 20 points in all three games this season, and it appears he will be an elite guard in the Big East this season. Harrison got consistent penetration against the Racers, drawing contact and hitting nine of 10 attempts from the free-throw line. The guard also pulled down seven boards.
But Lavin’s group could not answer and hit a couple big three-point attempts in the final minute get back to even. Murray State will now face Colorado in the championship game of the Charleston Classic.
