The Kentucky Wildcats stomped the Lafayette Leopards on Friday night, taking a 20 point lead in the first half and outscoring their opponent by 32 in the second half. Kentucky improves to 2-1 with the 101-49 win.

Kyle Wiltjer and Alex Poythress drove the Wildcats, who looked like they were out to prove a point after suffering a loss to Duke. Poythress had a nice touch all night, shooting 9 of 10 from the floor and 4 of 5 from the line. He finished with 22 points and five rebounds. Wiltjer shot 8 of 16 to add another 23 points and had four rebounds. Kentucky shot 64.5 percent as a team, including 11 for 19 on three-pointers.

Lafayette didn’t have much of an answer for Kentucky. They turned the ball over 27 times, including 16 steals by the Wildcats. When the Leopards did hang on to the ball they were held to 40.4 percent from the floor and 26.1 percent from downtown. Tony Johnson was the leading scorer for the Leopards, collecting 13 points on 6 of 8 shooting.

Both teams next face the Morehead State Eagles. Lafayette will play them on Sunday, and Kentucky sees them on Wednesday.
