The Baylor Bears saw their 42-game win streak come to an end at the hands of the Stanford Cardinal as they lost 71-69 at the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu, Hawai'I on Friday afternoon.
No. 1 Baylor women lose to No. 4 Stanford, snap 42-game winning streak
The Cardinal avenged last year’s Final Four defeat to the Bears as they knocked off Baylor in Hawai’i.

Brittney Griner missed a two-point jump shot with three seconds left in the game as the Cardinal avenged a Final Four loss to the Bears from last year. Griner finished the game with 22 points and six rebounds.
The Cardinal were led by senior forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike with 18 points and eight rebounds. Stanford used a very shallow rotation, with only seven players seeing any sizeable chunk of time on the court. Sophomore forward Taylor Greenfield added Stanford’s only points off the bench at 16.
Stanford went up by 12 early in the first half, but Baylor slowly chipped away and Stanford only led 31-29 at halftime. After that, the lead for either team never got larger than 5 points. Baylor was partially done in by poor three-point shooting, only hitting two of 14 from behind the arc.
This isn’t the only time the ladies at Stanford have spoiled a sizeable win streak. The Cardinal snapped the Connecticut Huskie’s 90 game win streak back in 2010 with a decisive 71-59 win.
Baylor last loss on March 29, 2011 against Texas A&M in the Elite 8, 58-46.
