No. 4 Ohio State vs. Rhode Island final: Buckeyes defeat Rams, 69-58

Deshaun Thomas had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Ohio State to a 69-58 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.

Thomas shot 9 of 18 from the field including 3 of 6 from three-point territory and played all 40 minutes of the game for the No. 4 Buckeyes.

Junior point guard Aaron Craft joined Thomas on the court for 40 minutes and had 13 points and four assists. Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 15 points in 30 minutes.

The Buckeyes led by just four at halftime, 30-26, but were able to extend their lead to nine when Craft made a three-pointer with 6:45 left in the second half to put Ohio State up 53-44 and the Rams were unable to close the gap the rest of the way.

Xavier Munford led Rhode Island with 16 points. Three other Rhode Island players were in double figures: Nikola Malesevic (11), Andre Malone (11) and Mike Powell (10).

Ohio State improved to 2-0 on the year while Rhode Island dropped to 0-3.
