The Mississippi St. Bulldogs were run off the floor by the ninth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels, 95-49, on Monday in Chapel Hill.

The Tar Heels put on a defensive clinic, defeating the Bulldogs for their fourth win of the season.


The Tar Heels were up by double digits less than five minutes into the game, and led by 20 with 12:30 remaining in the first half. The Bulldogs never threatened from the onset, as the Tar Heels stormed them defensively, forcing 22 turnovers and collecting 15 steals along the way. It was a defensive performance from the beginning as the Tar Heels held the Bulldogs to just 27.9 percent shooting, including a miniscule 11.8 percent from three-point range.
The Tar Heels had five players in double figures, including 21 points and six threes from Leslie McDonald and 18 points and four threes from P.J. Hairston. Reggie Bullock chipped in 16 points, as well.
The Tar Heels improved to 4-0 overall and the Bulldogs fell to 1-2. The Tar Heels play the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers on Nov. 27, seven days after facing the Butler Bulldogs.
