While fans and media hyped up the college debut of the nation's top freshman, UCLA's Shabazz Muhammad, the Georgetown Hoyas paid no mind and simply took care of business, defeating UCLA Monday night in the Progressive Legends Challenge in Brooklyn, 78-70.

Georgetown went to halftime with UCLA up only two points but started the second half on a 12-0 run to take a 43-29 lead and never looked back, holding the lead for the rest of the game.

Markel Starks and Otto Porter led the way for the Hoyas, scoring 23 points and 18 points, respectively, while Porter added nine rebounds and five assists as well. Greg Whittington contributed with seven rebounds and 13 points of his own. Georgetown shot 54.5 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc.

Muhammad, in his much-talked-about debut, scored 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting after coming off the bench. Muhammad served an NCAA suspension for UCLA’s first three games for allegedly receiving benefits. He was cleared to play by the NCAA following an appeal from UCLA.

Jordan Adams was the leading scorer for the Bruins, converting 8-of-20 shots for 22 points, tallying seven rebounds as well. Kyle Anderson and Travis Wear added seven rebounds apiece in the losing effort.

UCLA looks to rebound in the 2012 Progressive Legends Classic third-place game against the Georgia Bulldogs, while Georgetown heads to the championship to play No. 1 Indiana.
