Drexel loses leading scorer Chris Fouch for the season

Drexel’s leading scorer, Chris Fouch, will miss the rest of the season after breaking his ankle just three games into the year. Fouch, a senior, had led the team in scoring as a sophomore and was averaging 16.7 points per game in the early going.

The Drexel Dragons will be without Chris Fouch for the rest of the year, as the senior guard will undergo season-ending ankle surgery after breaking his right ankle.

The guard from New York was fourth in scoring on the team that won the CAA regular season title last season, but had led the team as a sophomore and was showing a return to a larger role in the early going this year. He scored 24 points in the team’s season opener, an overtime loss to Kent State, and followed that up with 16 points in the team’s second game, also an overtime loss against Illinois State. He had 10 points when he left the team’s game against Penn with the injury.

Fouch, in his fifth year with Drexel, had missed his freshman year with a knee injury but redshirted. His career is over unless he can obtain a medical redshirt for a sixth year from the NCAA. He had averaged double digits in each of his four years, but his 16.7 points through three games would have been a career high.
