Penn State star Tim Frazier out for the season

According to head coach Patrick Chambers, Frazier was undergoing surgery on Tuesday. The expected recovery time from this injury is projected at six to 12 months. The team has already expressed interest in applying for a medical redshirt for Frazier, which would provide him a fifth year of eligibility.

The injury was sustained in the beginning of Sunday’s loss to Akron at the Puerto Rico Tipoff. Following the game, Penn State spokesman Brian Siegrist stated that Frazier was able to leave the arena under his own power and would receive further testing once the team returned to State College.

Frazier was a preseason All-Big Ten selection and will finish the year averaging 16.3 points per game over the course of the four games he played.
