Led by a dominant game from senior big man Jeff Withey, the Kansas Jayhawks outlasted the Saint Louis Billikens, 73-59, on Tuesday night to claim the 2012 Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic title.
No. 12 Kansas vs. Saint Louis final score: Jayhawks hold off Billikens, 73-59
The Kansas Jayhawks took home the CBE Hall of Fame Classic title on Tuesday night with a win over the Saint Louis Billikens.

The 7’0 Withey tied a career-high 25 points to go with a season-high six blocks, and was integral in stopping the Billikens’ slow-moving half-court offense for much of the evening. Withey’s blocked shot total also marked the fourth time in five games this season where he’s swatted at least five shots.
Held to just 34.6 percent shooting on the night, Saint Louis put forth a valiant charge in the second half but ultimately could not overcome a 14-point halftime deficit. The Billikens, who only used seven players all game, picked up 19 points from Cody Ellis. Ellis was only able to connect on 6-of-20 field goal attempts, but still managed to chip in four three-pointers and eight rebounds.
Now 4-1 on the young season, Bill Self’s Jayhawks will next return home to face the San Jose State Spartans on Monday, Nov. 26 in Lawrence.
