No. 11 Creighton vs. Boise State final score: Broncos spring upset on Bluejays, 83-70

Boise State claimed its second-ever road win over a ranked team, taking down Creighton in Omaha.

It was the Derrick Marks show in Omaha. The sophomore shot a blistering 13-19 from the field, scoring 35 points to lead the Boise State Broncos to an 83-70 upset of the No. 11 Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday night during the Mountain West-Missouri Valley challenge.

Over a nine-minute stretch in the second half, Marks poured in 18 straight points for Boise State. Any time Doug McDermott and company tried to answer for Creighton, Marks simply kept scoring. His streak ended when teammate Anthony Drmic dropped in a three-pointer to put Boise State up, 73-59, with five minutes left. Drmic scored 17 points to help Boise to the upset.

The win marked only the second time in program history Boise State has defeated a ranked team on the road, and it was the Broncos’ first win over a ranked team since February 2009.

McDermott led the Bluejays with 21 points in the loss, as Creighton fell to 6-1 on the year. The team plays again on Saturday when they host the Saint Joseph Hawks, while Boise State stays on the road to take on the Seattle Redhawks on Sunday.
