No. 22 Illinois found themselves in a dog fight on Wednesday night against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, but Fighting Illini guard Joseph Bertrand would not let his team fall from the ranks of the undefeated. Bertrand's personal 10-0 run late in the second half helped lead the Illini to a 75-62 victory in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.

Joseph Bertrand’s 10-0 run sparked the No. 22 Illinois Fighting Illini to a 75-62 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.


Illinois and Georgia Tech went back and forth throughout the game, with both teams hot from three-point range. The Illini held a 36-35 halftime lead and pushed their lead out to seven early in the second half. However, tthe Yellow Jackets responded and held a four-point lead with just under seven minutes left. That was when Bertrand took over, knocking down a layup, a pair of three-pointers and finishing a jaw-dropping layup in the span of a couple minutes.
Bertrand finished with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Brandon Paul also had 15 points, while Tyler Griffey and D.J. Richardson both chipped in with 14. Richardson hit two threes late that helped put the game away for Illinois. The Illini made 14 three-pointers on the night and moved to 8-0 on the season under first-year coach John Groce.
Kammeon Holsey led Georgia Tech with 14 points as the Yellow Jackets fell to 4-2.
