The native Columbian signed with the Aggies today.

Peter G. Aiken-US PRESSWIRE

The Texas A&M Aggies men’s basketball team inked a big high school senior from right in their own back yard today when Tony Trocha signed his letter of intent with A&M.

The Columbia native and current star at St. Thomas Episcopal in Houston stands at 6’10 and is listed at 210 pounds. He is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.

Trocha averaged 16 points and 10.2 rebounds per game when he played for the Columbia U18 team in the FIBA Americas in Brazil. Trocha had been heavily recruited by a number of basketball powerhouses including UCLA, Ohio State, Florida, Georgetown and Kentucky. He’d also gotten interest from Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, Baylor, Providence and Texas Tech.

The Aggies will need some help in the front court after this season concludes. Forward Ray Turner will be graduating after this season and is currently averaging 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds. The Aggies will bring back Kourtney Roberson, who is averaging 6.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season.
