Syracuse and San Diego State will still play on the U.S.S. Midway as planned, but the date of the game has been shifted to Sunday from Friday due to predictions of rain.

Weather forecasts indicate that San Diego will receive rare showers Friday afternoon, with a 75-percent chance that there will be precipitation in the hour before the planned 8 p.m. ET tipoff. The options for the events organizers were to either move the game off the retired aircraft carrier to the Valley View Casino Center on the mainland, but rather than move the event’s location they chose to shift its date. The game is now scheduled for 4 p.m. ET Sunday.
Players will have to adjust to the outdoor conditions regardless, but rain would be more than just an inconvenience: the hardwood floor would likely become very slippery and cause concern over injuries to players.
The game, titled “The Battle on the Midway” was one of three that will be held on aircraft carriers on Friday. Ohio State and Marquette will play on the U.S.S. Yorktown in Charleston, S.C., while Florida and Georgetown will play on the U.S.S. Bataan in Jacksonville.
