College basketball is back as of Friday, Nov. 9. After a long offseason of early mornings in the weight room, late nights on the hardwood and more transfers than anyone would like to count, we finally have hoops back on our televisions.
College basketball tips-off with Navy–Marine Corps, Carrier Classics
College basketball officially returns on Friday night. It’s time to celebrate with a couple of big games on boats.

This year’s quest for March Madness will begin with a bang. Friday will bring multiple big-time matchups, and they’ll be played on a boat.
At 4 p.m. ET, the Carrier Classic will feature two of the nation’s predominate women’s programs when No. 7 Notre Dame takes on No. 19 Ohio State.
At 7 p.m. ET, the Men’s Carrier Classic will have No. 4 Ohio State take the floor against Marquette. Both teams made deep runs in the NCAA Tournament last March and should compete for a solid seed yet again this year. The game will be played on the USS Yorktown just outside Charleston, South Carolina.
Georgetown and No. 10 Florida will battle on the USS Bataan in Jacksonville, Florida at 9 p.m. ET. These are two programs with a lot of postseason success despite their contrasting play styles.
NBC and NBC Sports Network will air all of these games on Friday.
