Florida’s Wilbekin out for Carrier Classic
Junior point guard Scottie Wilbekin will not play in the game against Georgetown, per a coach’s decision.

Wilbekin’s absence will be a significant loss for the Gators’ defense. He has 58 steals in his first two years, and averaged 2.6 points in 15.2 minutes per game in the 2011-2012 season. He played in all 37 of Florida’s games in that season, leading the Gators in three-pointer accuracy by making 45.7 percent of the long-range shots he took. Wilbekin reportedly spent much off the off season attempting to improve his skills on offense, shooting 400-500 shots per day.
Boynton led the team in scoring in the 2011-2012 season, averaging 15.9 points per game and shooting 44 percent on field goals.
The Gators went 26-11 in the 2011-2012 season, making it to the Elite 8 before being eliminated by the Louisville Cardinals.
