Among other things, the 2012 NCAA Tournament featured two 15 seeds pulling upsets for the first time ever, four perennial powerhouses in the national semfinals, and a championship game that pitted two of the sport’s biggest names against one another.
Alabama beats South Dakota State at the buzzer
The 2012-13 college hoops season is less than 24 hours old, but thanks to Alabama’s Trevor Lacey it already has a memorable buzzer-beater un its belt.

What it didn’t feature, and what fans were begging for from the moment the first game’s tipped off, was a buzzer-beater.
It might be a few months late, but Alabama’s Trevor Lacey aims to please.
Lacey’s shot lifted the Crimson Tide to a 70-67 victory over visiting South Dakota State. The heroics spoiled a memorable performance by Jackrabbit star Nate Wolters, who scored 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Junior guard Trevor Releford came off the bench to lead Alabama in scoring with 18 points.
